Academic Tutoring
High School and Middle School, All Subjects
For students who are struggling with a particular class, needing to prepare for an exam, or generally needing academic improvement, Clayborne can help. Clayborne’s academic tutoring meets each student’s personal needs; whether the issue is remediation (students falling behind in essential skills) or enrichment (fine-tuning or additional instruction for already successful students), Clayborne tailors each program and works to ensure that the necessary support is in place. Our tutors are experts in their subject areas, and are also the kind of people who, in the words of one client, “I was happy to invite into my home.”
- Foreign Language: Clayborne also offers foreign language tutoring in Spanish, French, Latin, Chinese, and ancient Greek, with plans to add other languages. If you need tutoring in a language we don’t currently offer, let us know and we’ll do our utmost to accommodate you.
- English and Writing: Need help writing that paper or college essay? Clayborne’s tutors are equipped to edit student’s work and help improve student’s writing ability. Moreover, drawing on our expertise in standardized testing, Clayborne offers reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary help. Clayborne has Kara Lemon, writing specialist, on staff to help students become equipped to write outstanding papers and essays for specific classes, AP exams, the SAT, and the ACT.
- Math and Science: From pre-algebra to calculus, from earth science to physics, Clayborne tutors are equipped to help students realize their full potential.
- Homework Help and Study Skills: Often the chief benefit of tutoring is the structure it can provide for a student’s academic endeavors—and we know that students often receive such guidance from someone besides a parent! Our tutors are ready to walk with your child through the homework process, helping them develop discipline and study skills as they approach their various academic challenges.
Each academic tutoring program begins with a meeting with Clayborne’s director to discuss a proposed tutoring plan. At Clayborne, we believe it is important to get to know the student as well as we can so that we can match each student with the best tutor for his or her needs. When tutoring begins, Clayborne tutors are available to meet students wherever they wish: in our tutoring center, in the home, at school, or in a local public library, for example. We look forward to working with you to give your child the support, skills, and encouragement he or she needs to succeed!
