    To Whom It May Concern:

I wanted to take a moment to share my personal and academic observations of Clay Daniel with you. In the year 2000, I was a Dallas businessperson in my very late 20’s, weighing options for my future. Attempting to fulfill a lifelong academic goal of earning a Juris Doctorate, I began the process of searching for suitable law schools. After considerable due diligence, I narrowed the field to five likely suspects, the best of which was the closest in proximity to my home and the highest ranked of the bunch, Southern Methodist University. SMU Law is in the top tier of the national rankings, and my undergraduate grades would never, ever be sufficient to pass Admissions muster there, so I was relying almost entirely on my LSAT score to offset them. Enter the local test prep provider and Clay Daniel.

As a product of more business meetings and presentations than I care to ever remember, I feared yet another in a series of pedestrian PowerPoint presentations awaiting me in the learning center. Not so. In fact, what I found instead was an engaged, sincere, brilliant young mind in Clay Daniel. Frankly, I was enthused by the classroom material mostly because he was enthused. The study of LSAT subject matter can be dull, and Clay made the process very enjoyable. My initial score improved over 10% at final testing, which is the equivalent to a country mile in terms of Admissions standards. I finished comfortably within the mid-eighty percentile, which I considered a personal triumph, having not seen a textbook or taken a standardized test in years. Clay was able to shore up my chronic inability to successfully complete the bizarre and much maligned logic games, and helped improve my already solid performance on the logical reasoning section (I missed only two questions on the first section of twenty five). As the mark of any exceptional instructor, he muted my biggest shortcomings and enhanced my strongest talents. He did this through clear explanation, an open forum for questions, native intellect, and a winning attitude.

Personally, I was able to have numerous discussions with Clay on various subjects outside of class. As an older, harder bitten character than Clay, I was impressed with his breadth of knowledge and his enthusiasm for it at such a young age. He was the sort of person that I would have hired immediately had he walked into my office, regardless of his skill level in my chosen field of finance. I would rather take the time to teach an inspired thinker than hire a dull mind with a broad skill set. To make this point perfectly clear, I do not, and have not, written hardly any letters of recommendation on any person’s behalf. Clay is worthy of any superlative I can jot down on this paper; his intellect and ability far exceed the vast majority of life on this planet, which sadly includes my own. He helped change my life, and will most certainly be a credit to any organization lucky enough to have him.
