Before joining Clayborne, Business Manager Richard Needham was a manager at several e-commerce companies. He holds an M.F.A. in Film Production with an award for academic excellence from the University of Miami School of Communication in Coral Gables Florida. Richard has wrangled chickens in Central Park for a Busta Rhymes video, produced The Ticket, a documentary about lottery winners (currently on Hulu), traveled to Mongolia to film reindeer herders and has worked as cinematographer on numerous films for artist Dara Friedman. Richard loves travel, surf and snow sports and going on random adventures with his daughter, Rachel.
Program Manager Scott Webster began working for Clayborne in 2012. Having worked in the IT industry for a few years as a Software Quality Analyst, he decided to take a leap of faith and pursue his true passion of teaching. Bringing his experience in product quality assurance and in SAT/ACT tutoring to bear, he now manages client/tutor interactions and ensures that Clayborne families realize their academic goals. He continues to tutor SAT and ACT even as he manages clients, students, and tutors. In his free time, Scott enjoys reading classics, chucking the disc, planning out his garden, and going on adventures with his wife and adorable little girls.
Kyle Bumgarner recently graduated from James Madison University with a B.A. in Communication Studies. While at JMU, he was heavily involved with mentoring teens through Young Life. His work at Clayborne is focused primarily in account management, human resources, and marketing. When not at Clayborne, Kyle's interests include watching or playing sports, enjoying classic cinema, volunteering, and mentoring, particularly with kids from low-income backgrounds.
College Counseling and Academic Coordinator Christianna Andrews has worked with Clayborne as a tutor and administrator since 2013. Prior to her tenure with Clayborne, Christianna worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator with the University of Virginia, and as an Academic Counselor with Carroll County Public Schools and Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth. She is excited to develop Clayborne's College Counseling program, which marries her love of education and college planning to help students discover and engage their interests inside and outside of the classroom. She has served as an Academic Tutor with West Middle School, Baltimore City Public Schools, and Susquehanna Township School District. Christianna holds a B.S. in English and Psychology from James Madison University, a M.Ed. in Secondary School Counseling from the Pennsylvania State University, and a M.Sc. in the History of Art from the University of Edinburgh. In her spare time, Christianna enjoys hiking, slowly jogging, and staying up-to-date on pop culture trivia.
Elizabeth "Liz" Bordogna worked for Clayborne for several years as a science and test prep tutor. After taking some time off when her children were born, she is happy to be back at Clayborne as a desk attendant. Prior to joining Clayborne, she taught middle school science in Virginia and Washington, DC. She is also trained and certified in the Montessori method, and she spent 5 years working at a local Montessori school. Liz holds a B.S. in Biology and a Master's in Teaching from the University of Virginia. When she's not at Clayborne, Liz enjoys going for long runs and training for road races, reading a good novel, and playing outside with her two young children.
August Hardy teaches at George Mason University, where he is working on his Ph.D. in Economics. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia. August has worked as a volunteer with Young Life for the past 7 years, and enjoys board games, film, and the great outdoors. He serves Northern Virginia as our Director of ACT and SAT Test Prep.
